Looking back over the last few years, it is too much for me to comprehend the Lord’s provisions for this ministry. As we finished our $5.1M Campaign this winter, I sat back and reflected on all the Lord has mercifully allowed us to accomplish. At Cono we’ve installed sprinkler systems, and reopened the Cono Christian School. In Brevard, we’ve completed the Badger Barn multi-purpose gym, built seven new cabins for staff and guests, converted the old Shepherd’s Dining Hall into a large meeting space, Soda Shoppe, and Game Room. I wondered what can top all of this.
Well, I have some very exciting news. Our son, Cameron, was unanimously elected at our Spring Board meeting to succeed me as the Ridge Haven Executive Director. I know I am a proud dad reflecting fondly on his son, but I cannot help but praise the Lord for His covenant faithfulness from generation to generation. The Lord prepared Cameron for this role by spending his high school and college summers at Ridge Haven in various positions. After graduating from Covenant College, he worked as a youth pastor for a few years while attending seminary and becoming ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America. In 2018 he came back to Ridge Haven as the Director of the Brevard campus. It is such a blessing to see him now assume this new responsibility for the entirety of Ridge Haven. I will remain on staff and transition into my new role in Development and continue to oversee our Cono campus.
Thank you again for being a vital part of this ministry. Your support has meant so much to us over the years as we know that it comes with your prayers. I do not know of a more important ministry today than working with our kids, the next generation. They are our Church’s future! They are our future.
This summer and fall are on pace to be our busiest ever. The Lord is continuing to bring blessing upon blessing by enabling us to share the Gospel with so many. We need your prayers now as much as ever for us to be good stewards of such blessings. We are committed to our relational ministry philosophy. We want to keep our camper to counselor ratio the same, one counselor to 10-12 campers, and maintain our longer, Monday-Saturday camper weeks. Our goal is to model Christian living through developing relationships with our campers, and our counselors constantly note that it is often that fifth day where they can have their most fruitful conversations with campers after experiencing several days of gospel community, teaching, and fun. Also, please pray that the Lord will continue to bring just the right counselors and summer staff to both of our locations. Cono is also preparing for their busiest summer ever.
Again, I cannot adequately express how happy Paige and I are that Cameron and Jeanna (and their two little girls, Lennie Jean and Hazel) continue their commitment and love for the ministry of Ridge Haven by assuming the leadership of this Kingdom ministry.
Humbly,
Wallace and Paige Anderson
