Dear Friend of Cono,
Thank you so much for your continual prayers and generous donations to Ridge Haven Cono. It is a privilege to see all that the Lord is doing through the school, the co-op, and the youth group this year! Every year in January we always think we know what the plan will be and how the ministry will look the following year. But God, in his perfect wisdom, always has better plans than we could even imagine! Just a few weeks before the start of this school year our team teaching approach fell into place and has been a blessing to all of us.
As teachers in the school, we get to see the Lord transform the lives of nine students every day and nearly forty students on Fridays. Due to our team teaching approach, we get to specialize in certain areas and offer a wide variety of classes to our students. As Ridge Haven Cono, we give the students all the benefits of homeschooling while drawing on the unique strengths of our teaching staff.
Rose Rehberg specializes in Mathematics, German, and teaches our Science course this year. Rose provides our daystudents with an opportunity to gain foreign language credit alongside teaching her own children and leading the Magnetism and Electricity labs on Fridays with her husband, Mike (Cono class of 2000).
Becca Gojda is our Bible, English, and Social Studies teacher. She is working through American History this year with her students and taking on unconventional projects that encourages hands-on learning. Even Ridge Haven’s new facilities manager, Bob was recruited to help the students emulate the philosophy of the Wright brothers by building wooden birdhouses from scratch. Becca’s literature class just finished up an in-depth study of the Iliad and they are eager to start the Odyssey after Thanksgiving break.
Victoria Reinkoester, also lovingly known as Mrs. R, is a faithful servant at Ridge Haven Cono. Even in her retirement, she comes out to work as a reading specialist with our day school students every Monday through Thursday.
However, the most exciting new development to the school this year is the P.E. class that Rose and Becca are teaching. During the first month and a half of school, Rose taught swimming lessons in Ridge Haven Cono’s new pool! Even though the weather has cooled down the P.E. class is still thriving. Our most recent unit is floor hockey and we even got Wallace Anderson (Director) and Bob Commings (Maintenance), to join in the fun.
On Fridays we welcome ten local families to co-op with us again this year. Right now, we are working on Peter Pan for our drama production and are enjoying the challenges of elaborate props and choreography. The co-op is also excited to bring back a student choir to Ridge Haven Cono. The Choir will perform at the Walker Christmas Program on December 17th. The co-op is both parent and teacher led offering a variety of other classes including: Bible, Art, Science, History, Literature, Creative Writing, and Sign Language.
With this core team and a handful of other creative energetic moms we have seen the school thrive this year like never before. We are praising God for his continued faithfulness to this ministry. Please pray that the Lord will use our school to build up leaders for His Kingdom. Your support is so greatly appreciated every single day. Please consider a generous year-end gift, and also consider joining other friends of Cono who are giving every month. Go to www.ridgehaven.org/donations.
To God be the Glory,
Rose Rehberg and Becca Gojda
